The History of Cowen Construction begins in the late 1800's when Nathan Cowen learned the trade of stonemason. Nathan began working on the new railroad system and would stop at the towns selected for a depot. There he would use his stonemason skills to build the new structure. He claimed a new bride during his travels and the newlyweds decided to make a home in Indian Territory – later known as Shawnee Oklahoma. The news of Nathan's workmanship spread and he soon began building the town's bank, the courthouse and a school. So began Cowen Construction in 1896. The Company's original qualities of workmanship and customer service have been passed down through four generations of Cowen's operating the Company.
