BOK ROC Data Center

The BOK OPS Data Center Hardening & Expansion project is a very unique project of constructing a FEMA rated EF-5 shelter around an operational banking IT data center that includes the construction of footings, concrete filled CMU walls inside the existing building and construction of two levels of concrete structure above the existing roof, all during normal use of the 24/7 facility. This project is deserving of recognition because of the very unique situation of constructing a FEMA rated EF-5 shelter around a critical banking data center while in operation. This includes creating access into the building to allow heavy equipment to construct the foundation and grout filled CMU walls around the IT data room. Once the CMU walls were constructed up to the bottom of the roof structure, the roof was breached and resealed in a short time. With the walls now above the existing roof level, the new roof structure could be built that includes two different layers of concrete material with levels of waterproofing. The heavy work above the existing roof was critical as it was straight above the data center. Additionally to this project, we expanded the facilities footprint that was also EF-5 rated and housed backup generators and critical data room air conditioning equipment.
